W.E.ROCK Announces Coveted “Rookie of the Year”
Rock Crawling has moved great strides over the past
few years and keeping up at a competitive level is an outstanding task for
teams. To face the strong adversity and overcome all difficulties is overwhelming
even for the top experienced teams in the nation, let alone those that made
2005 their rookie year.
W.E.ROCK has looked far and wide over the past season
to find the teams that possess the finesse, stamina, and drive to be titled
as the W.E.ROCK “Rookie of the Year.” With over 30 events under
the World sanctioning body, the decision was extremely tough as entrants
from all over the world were nominated for the coveted position. The
decision was so tough that the W.E.ROCK Staff’s vote came to a tie,
one Eastern US National Team and one Western US National Team.
From the Eastern US Nationals, the “Rookie
of the Year” honors would go to the #416 team from Louisiana. Marty
Hart and Jeff Jones shook the entire circuit this year taking a second place
in the Eastern Series and a second place at the W.E.ROCK Grand Nationals.
Proving consistency is truly the key to success, Hart and Jones placed in
the top five of every event of which the duo competed throughout the 2005 season.
The competitive team also wrote one down for the history books in the Grand
Nationals when Hart was the first and only person to drive the negative 20-point
bonus in the finals now labeled as ’Hart Attack.’
From the Western US Nationals, the “Rookie
of the Year” honors is presented to Rick Dermo and Rick Gersch
of Cortez, Colorado. The #33 PHH Team showed great sportsmanship and dedication
throughout the entire 2005 season while on their way to a fifth place finish
at the W.E.ROCK Grand Nationals. A mid season vehicle change was a success
factor as the teams rating went from Top 15 down to an eighth place in the
Western US National Series. W.E.ROCK Course Designer Lil’ Rich commenting
on the duo, “It’s been great watching Dermo and Gersch make
huge changes and still stay at the top. Look for this team to take control
in the 2006 season.”
W.E.ROCK’s 2006 National Championship Season
will debut at the Globe Rock Motorway in Globe, Arizona on April 8th and
9th. Look for these Top Pro’s and a new batch of rookies to hit the
rocks at an event near you. More info can be found at www.we-rock.cc
